"LIFE IS FULL OF CHALLENGES. MOST YOU CAN’T CONTROL. BUT THERE’S ONE THING YOU CAN…AND THAT’S YOUR HEALTH."
- Hayley Bryer
Some of my fondest memories are the times I spent in Classical Ballet from ages 4 to 16. I not only enjoyed it but it taught me elegance, grace, form and discipline and it became my priority and passion throughout my childhood. When I was a junior in high school I made the difficult decision to retire from ballet to focus on school athletics, activities and college preparation. At this point I had a very thin frame and realized I needed to pursue strength training to build muscle. So I started lifting weights when I was 16; getting the key from my Dad to go to the gym as often as possible. Weight lifting became my new passion. It served as an outlet for me and helped eliminate the stress of school.
Upon graduating from Millard North, I received a 4-year full ride scholarship (in recognition of my hard work and dedication through high school) and I chose to stay close to home at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. I was so excited to finally be on my own and start this new chapter! Or so I thought. The freedom got the best of me and I started having too much fun, eating whatever I wanted (whenever I wanted) and my small frame quickly changed. Looks aside the biggest heartache for me was how horrible I felt (mentally and physically). My metabolism was shot, so for the next couple of years I went back and forth from losing weight to gaining it back. I switched from job to job, searching for identity, out ‘on my own’.
Then one day it hit me. I was tired of just being average and simply going through the motions of life. I wanted to start a career in personal training and feel and look healthy again. I wanted to regain my strength through my passion and embark on a change that provides consistency in a world full of constant change. I wanted to feel good in my own skin again. So I dove fully into my personal health and started following the principles my parents taught me.
With isolation strength personal training, balanced cardio and proper nutrition I got stronger and leaner and my life completely changed. I realized shortly after completing my personal goals and receiving my certification as a Personal Trainer and Nutritionist that helping other people transform their lives was my mission.
When you are mindful of wellness, with balance and consistency it not only helps how you look on the outside but, most important, improves how you feel on inside too (mental health and overall mindset). So that when life delivers disappointment you’re strong enough to deal with it and detour for continued enjoyment of the journey ahead of you.
